Tax & Resale Certificate Information
Effective: September 25, 2026
Overview
This page explains, in general terms, how tax is handled on the Sentrick Metals & Minerals marketplace and how qualifying business buyers provide resale or exemption certificates. It is informational and is not tax or legal advice; parties should consult their own advisors.
How tax is calculated
Where applicable, tax is calculated based on the transaction, the parties' locations and registrations, and product taxability, and is shown as a separate line computed from the immutable order record. Sentrick does not mark up tax.
Responsibility and marketplace-facilitator role
Each party remains responsible for its own tax obligations, except to the extent applicable law requires Sentrick to collect, report, withhold, or remit a tax as a marketplace provider, marketplace facilitator, withholding agent, or otherwise. Where a law imposes marketplace-facilitator or similar duties on Sentrick for certain transactions, Sentrick will comply with those duties and, where required, notify affected suppliers that it is doing so. This allocation does not shift to a supplier or buyer any duty that applicable law places on Sentrick directly.
Resale and exemption certificates
Many wholesale purchases are for resale and may be exempt from certain taxes when supported by a valid certificate. Qualifying buyers may be asked to provide a current, accurate resale or exemption certificate for the relevant jurisdictions before an exemption is applied. Buyers are responsible for the validity of the certificates they provide and for notifying us of changes.
Records
Certificates and tax determinations associated with orders are retained as part of the commercial record for audit and compliance purposes, consistent with the Privacy Policy.
Changes
Tax rules and registrations change. Sentrick may update tax handling and this information to reflect current requirements, and applies changes prospectively.
